Question
"After spending the night in Amarillo in late August, should we stay over and visit some sites?"
The Guide Says ...
"There are lots of things to do in Amarillo, and they certainly warrant at least one full day. Visit our Amarillo Excursia site and browse through our "Attractions" pages to see if there are any attractions that interest you.

You certainly can't go near Amarillo without seeing the Cadillac Ranch. Additionally, I recommend a visit to Palo Duro Canyon, 6th Street's Route 66, Amarillo's Museums, or possibly the symphony or the ballet."

Question
"We are moving to Amarillo, I would like to know if there are any lakes for swimming or fishing nearby."
The Guide Says ...
"Lake Meredith most particularly is known for its walleye fishing, but it offers other fishing as well as plenty of other recreational fare, as well. You also may want to check out the outdoors section of a sister publication of ours, The Amarillo Globe-News."

Question
"I am interested in renting a houseboat for a weekend somewhere near Jacksovnille or south Georgia. Do you know of anyplace near here do this?"
The Guide Says ...
"We suggest you try HouseBoatRentals.com or the classifieds at a sister site of ours at Jacksonville.com."

Question
"I am seeking information on accommodations in the Jacksonville area that accepts pets."
The Guide Says ...
"I like to use PetsWelcome.com to find lodging that accepts pets. First, click on the "Listings" option, then on "US Lodgings," then enter your destination city and state. You'll get a list of area accommodations that allow pets. Many specify weight limits, if they have any restrictions."

Question
"I would like to know about attractions available in Bourbon County during early Oct. I hear that there is a dining car that gives a tour an offers a great meal."
The Guide Says ...
The only dinner train in Kentucky that we know of is "My Old Kentucky Dinner Train" in Bardstown, Kentucky, about 77 miles southwest of Paris. There is a feature article by BestReadGuide.com about "My Old Kentucky Dinner Train". Call 1.502.348.7500 for more information, 1.502.348.7300 for reservations.

"The Paris/Bourbon County Chamber of Commerce also has a Web site telling about all of the attractions available in Paris/Bourbon County."

Question
"Is the Louisville Zoo open March 8? What is the charge to get in? What Hours is it open?"
The Guide Says ...
"The Louisville Zoo is open daily from 10-4 through March. Admission is $7.95 for adults and $4.95 for children."

Question
"Does the aquarium at Gatlinburg, Tenn. have any type of handicapped accommodations such as wheelchair or electric carts?"
The Guide Says ...
"The Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg is fully handicap accessible. They do not provide wheelchairs or electric carts. However, there is a rental business in Sevierville:

Bess & Co. (they pick up & deliver)
129 Bruce Street
Sevierville, TN
865-429-0064

Pharma Medical
125 Silver Bell Lane
Gatlinburg, TN
865-430-4446"

Question
"Does Gatlinburg sell carry-out beer on Sundays? And if so, are there time considerations?"
The Guide Says ...
"There is no carry-out alcohol sold in Gatlinburg on Sundays (buy extra on Saturday!). You can, however, buy wine and liquor in restaurants on Sunday, strange as that may sound."
